BMKG Predicts Mostly Sunny Weather Today, Light Rain Still Possible in Several Regions
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that weather in most parts of Indonesia on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, will be dominated by sunny conditions. Despite this, several areas still have the potential to experience light rain, while other regions are forecast to be cloudy or misty.
Based on the weather forecast released by BMKG, a number of cities across Indonesia are expected to enjoy sunny weather throughout the day. These conditions are predicted to occur in areas stretching from Kalimantan to Papua.
The cities forecast to be sunny include Banjarbaru, Gorontalo, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, Kendari, Kupang, Makassar, Manado, Manokwari, Nabire, Palangka Raya, Palu, Sofifi, Sorong, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. This dominance of sunny weather indicates that atmospheric conditions in most of Indonesia are conducive for public activities.
Meanwhile, several major cities are predicted to experience cloudy conditions. BMKG noted that areas potentially facing cloudy skies include Jakarta, Banda Aceh, Bandar Lampung, Bandung, Jambi, Mamuju, Medan, Merauke, Padang, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Pekanbaru, and Samarinda. Cloudy weather generally does not involve rain, but the public is still urged to monitor weather updates if planning outdoor activities.
In addition to sunny and cloudy conditions, BMKG also forecasts partly sunny weather in four cities: Ambon, Denpasar, Semarang, and Tanjung Selor. This condition indicates the sky will be decorated with a certain amount of clouds, but sunlight is still likely to dominate throughout the day.
Although most of Indonesia is predicted to be sunny, BMKG has reminded the public of the potential for light rain in several areas. The regions with a chance of light rain include Bengkulu, Pontianak, Serang, and Tanjung Pinang. Residents in these areas are advised to anticipate weather changes, especially those with outdoor activities. Meanwhile, BMKG predicts misty conditions in the city of Mataram.
