BMKG: Parts of North Sumatra at Risk of Rain During Eid al-Adha
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) stated that parts of North Sumatra could experience light to moderate rain on Wednesday (27 May), coinciding with Eid al-Adha 2026. BMKG Regional Office I forecaster Endah Paramitha in Medan said on Tuesday that the weather in North Sumatra on Wednesday morning was forecast to be partly cloudy. During the afternoon and evening, cloudy conditions with light rain were expected in Deli Serdang, Asahan, Karo, Gunung Sitoli, Labuhanbatu, North Labuhanbatu, Langkat, Mandailing Natal, Nias, South Nias, Serdang Bedagai, Padang Lawas, South Tapanuli, North Tapanuli, Toba, and surrounding areas. In the evening, she added, the weather would remain partly cloudy with potential light to moderate rain in parts of North Sumatra, with moderate intensity rain possible in Langkat and its vicinity. Average temperatures range from 15 to 33 degrees Celsius with humidity between 55% and 99%, and winds blowing from south to northeast at 4 to 9 km/h. ‘Be cautious of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in the western slopes, western coast, eastern slopes, and mountainous areas of North Sumatra, which could cause hydro-meteorological disasters such as floods, landslides, and gusty winds,’ said Endah Paramitha.
