BMKG NTB warns of cloudy weather and rain potential during mudik exodus
During the coming week, weather conditions across the region are generally forecast to be partly cloudy to moderately rainy, according to Kadek Katriavi, a weather forecaster at the BMKG Meteorology Station in Mataram, on Monday.
Regions at risk of being affected include North Lombok District, West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Dompu, Bima, and Bima City.
Entering the period of 19–22 March 2026, weather in NTB is likely to remain dominated by partly cloudy conditions through light to moderate rainfall.
Potential rain is expected in Mataram City, North Lombok, West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Dompu, Bima, and Bima City.
Katriavi has called on the public to heighten their vigilance, particularly for residents planning to travel during the mudik exodus period ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
“Be alert to the potential for rain that may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds, especially during the day through to the evening,” he said.
Beyond rainfall, BMKG also forecasts surface wind conditions with winds blowing in a predominantly south-westerly to north-westerly direction with maximum speeds reaching approximately 35 kilometres per hour. Air temperatures are expected to range between 23 and 33 degrees Celsius.
BMKG has asked users of land and sea transport to monitor the latest weather information developments to mitigate potential travel disruptions during the 2026 Eid exodus.
