BMKG: Light to Moderate Rain Hits Several Jakarta Areas Today

Today’s Jakarta weather forecast, Friday 6 March 2026, is expected to be mostly cloudy with the potential for light to moderate rain in several areas. This information was released by Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) via its official website and the social media account @infobmkg. BMKG says rain has begun in the capital earlier today in several areas. Light rain is forecast for Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta Utara, and Jakarta Timur. Meanwhile, Jakarta Barat and Jakarta Selatan are forecast to receive rain of moderate intensity. Thick clouds are forecast to cover Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta Utara, Jakarta Barat, Jakarta Selatan, and Jakarta Timur. This cloudy weather is expected to persist into the afternoon, and even into the night across all DKI Jakarta. However, updates from BMKG via Instagram @infobmkg indicate potential rain may re-emerge at certain periods. In the afternoon, light rain is forecast in Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta Timur, and Jakarta Utara, while Jakarta Barat could experience rain with moderate intensity. Meanwhile, Jakarta Selatan and Kepulauan Seribu are forecast to be shrouded in thick clouds. This pattern is expected to last until around 19:00 WIB in Jakarta Barat, Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta Utara, and Kepulauan Seribu, while Jakarta Selatan and Jakarta Timur are forecast to remain under thick cloud. By the evening around 22:00 WIB to early Saturday, most parts of Jakarta are expected to be again covered by thick clouds. Only Jakarta Selatan is still likely to experience light rain. BMKG also notes that Jakarta’s temperature today is expected to be between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius, with humidity between 73 and 93 percent. Wind speeds are forecast to range from 12 to 37 kilometres per hour. The public is advised to remain vigilant for locally heavy rain, especially during the afternoon to early evening.
