The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) has lifted the early tsunami warning resulting from a tectonic earthquake of magnitude 7.6 in the waters off North Maluku this morning. This was announced by Rahmat Triyono, Director of Earthquakes at BMKG. “The Early TSUNAMI WARNING caused by the Mag:7.6 earthquake on 02-Apr-26 at 05:48:16 WIB has been declared over: BMKG,” Rahmat wrote. As reported, the tectonic earthquake of magnitude 7.6 occurred in the waters of North Maluku at 05:48:16 WIB, prompting the early tsunami warning. “A tsunami has been detected in West Halmahera at 07:08 WITA with a height of 0.3 m, and in Bitung at 07:15 WITA with a height of 0.2 m,” the @infoBMKG Twitter account stated.
