BMKG Jambi Warns of Extreme Weather Potential, 8 Sub-districts in Bungo Still Affected by Floods

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) Class I Sultan Thaha Jambi has issued an early weather warning for the Jambi region, regarding the potential for extreme weather that can trigger hydrometeorological disasters in the Jambi Province. The public is asked to increase vigilance against the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

Forecaster On Duty BMKG Jambi, M. Randy Herdyansyansyah HB, stated that the atmospheric dynamics in the Jambi region still show significant conditions in the next few days.

“BMKG appeals to the public and stakeholders to increase vigilance against the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds, especially in the afternoon,” said Randy in his official statement, Friday (15/5/2026).

Based on the release of BMKG weather forecast data, the potential for extreme weather is predicted to cover almost most of the region in Jambi Province, including:

This potential is also expected to extend to the Kerinci Regency, Sungai Penuh City, Sarolangun Regency, and Jambi City. Specifically for the Bungo Regency, rain with light to moderate intensity is predicted to still occur in the afternoon, evening, and night.

In line with the extreme weather warning, the Bungo Police reported that handling the floods in several areas is still the main priority. The Head of Public Relations of the Bungo Police, Iptu Bambang Juli Mandala, said that even though the water level in several locations has started to recede, intensive monitoring is still being carried out because there are still residents’ houses that are flooded.

“Personnel are still on standby to help affected residents, both through patrols, providing appeals, and direct assistance in the field,” said Iptu Bambang.

To date, there are eight sub-districts in Bungo Regency that are still affected by flooding, namely:

The Bungo Police appealed to residents who live on the banks of rivers and in areas prone to flooding to remain vigilant against the potential for further flooding given the predicted rainfall.
