The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that most areas of Jakarta will experience sunny to partly cloudy weather on Saturday, amid projections that the peak of the national dry season will occur from July to September 2026. Through its Instagram account @infobmkg, BMKG stated that Central Jakarta and East Jakarta are forecast to be sunny in the morning, partly cloudy from afternoon to evening, and cloudy at night. Meanwhile, West Jakarta and the Thousand Islands are expected to experience partly cloudy weather throughout the day. South Jakarta is forecast to be sunny in the morning, then partly cloudy from afternoon until night. North Jakarta is expected to be sunny in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon, then cloudy from evening until night. The average air temperature in the Jakarta area on Saturday is forecast to range from 28 to 29 degrees Celsius. BMKG also estimates that the peak of the dry season in most parts of Indonesia will occur in the period from July to September 2026. The agency is urging the public and local governments to take anticipatory measures to reduce potential losses due to the impact of the El Niño phenomenon. Based on BMKG calculations in early June 2026, the El Niño phenomenon is expected to continue until early 2027. Nevertheless, the direct impact of El Niño on Indonesia is expected to occur mainly during the dry season and last until October 2026. Specifically in the health sector, local governments are asked to prepare rapid response measures to anticipate an increase in air pollution that could potentially trigger cases of acute respiratory infections.
