BMKG Issues Early Warning as Tropical Cyclone Seed 97W Triggers Extreme Weather

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning regarding weather conditions across Indonesia for Sunday, 12 July 2026. Based on the latest atmospheric dynamics analysis, the presence of Tropical Cyclone Seed 97W in the Pacific Ocean northeast of Papua is significantly influencing wind patterns and the growth of rain clouds. Although the system currently has a central pressure of 1006 hPa and maximum wind speeds of 15 knots, it is predicted to have a low chance of developing into a full tropical cyclone within the next 48 to 72 hours. Despite the low probability of intensification, the system is inducing areas of convergence and confluence, which are expected to trigger heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in several parts of the country. The public is advised to anticipate the impacts of extreme weather, including potential flooding, waterlogging, reduced visibility, and strong winds.
