BMKG forecasts rain for most major Indonesian cities on Monday
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has urged the public to be aware of the potential for moderate to light rain in a number of major cities across Indonesia on Monday. BMKG forecaster Nurul Izzah Fitria stated that moderate rain is expected in Medan and Tanjung Selor. Light rain is forecast for Padang, Jambi, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, cloudy to overcast conditions are expected to cover the skies of Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Pangkalpinang, Semarang, Surabaya, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin. Nurul also noted the potential for hazy conditions in Bandar Lampung and Samarinda. In eastern Indonesia, light rain is forecast for Mamuju, Palu, Manado, Manokwari, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Merauke, while cloudy to overcast skies are expected to dominate Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Makassar, Kendari, Gorontalo, Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, and Nabire. The agency reminded the public that this forecast is a general overview and advised monitoring the Info BMKG application or @infobmkg social media accounts for more detailed and hourly updates.
