BMKG forecasts most of Indonesia's major cities to be hit by rain on Wednesday

Jakarta – The Republic of Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG RI) forecast that the majority of the country’s major cities will be dominated by rain of varying intensity on Wednesday. For western Indonesia, there is a warning of potential thunderstorm activity in Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, and Bandar Lampung, said BMKG forecaster Ina Hapsari during a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta on Wednesday. In addition to warnings of the extreme weather, Ina noted a potential for moderate rain in the Tanjung Selor area. She added that in several other regions weather will be varied, including the potential for hazy conditions in Surabaya. Meanwhile, light rain is forecast to fall and dampen a number of other major cities in western and central Indonesia. On the other hand, cloudy to heavily overcast conditions are expected to envelop some other areas, such as Pangkalpinang, Semarang, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin. Residents in Denpasar and Manokwari are forecast to experience mostly cloudy to heavily overcast conditions throughout the day. Turning to eastern Indonesia, BMKG says that light rain will continue to be the most dominant weather pattern in that region. ‘For eastern Indonesia there is potential for light rain in Mataram, Kupang, the entire area of Sulawesi, Ternate, Ambon, and parts of Papua,’ Ina said.
