BMKG forecasts light rain for several North Sumatra regions on Thursday

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast that several areas in North Sumatra may experience light rain on Thursday, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Prakirawan BBMKG Wilayah I Medan, Putri Diana, stated on Wednesday that morning weather across North Sumatra is generally expected to be cloudy with potential light rain in North Labuhanbatu, Langkat, Serdang Bedagai, Deli Serdang, and Labuhanbatu Regencies. During the afternoon and evening, light rain is forecast for Serdang Bedagai, Simalungun, Langkat, Mandailing Natal, South Nias, Medan, Deli Serdang, Karo, and Binjai. Meanwhile, at night, light rain is likely in North Padang Lawas, Serdang Bedagai, Simalungun, South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, North Labuhanbatu, Mandailing Natal, Padang Lawas, Sibolga, Tebing Tinggi, Labuhanbatu, South Labuhanbatu, Asahan, Batu Bara, and Humbang Hasundutan. BMKG recorded temperatures in North Sumatra ranging from 14 to 33 degrees Celsius with humidity levels between 60 and 100 percent. Winds are blowing from the south to southwest at speeds of 3 to 9 kilometres per hour. Additionally, monitoring on 15 July 2026 detected six hotspots in North Sumatra, located in North Labuhanbatu and Toba Regencies. BMKG urged the public to remain alert to the potential for rising temperatures and strong winds.
