BMKG forecasts light rain for major cities including Jakarta on Thursday

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that a number of major cities in Indonesia have the potential to be drenched by light intensity rain, including the Jakarta area, on Thursday. BMKG forecaster Yuyun, in a weather information broadcast monitored from Jakarta, Thursday, stated that the potential for rain was triggered by the entry of regional atmospheric dynamics. “Light rain is predicted to occur in Medan, Padang, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Palangkaraya, to Tanjung Selor,” he said. These conditions are reported to form areas of convergence and confluence that significantly increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the circulation area. Meanwhile, areas of wind slowdown or convergence were observed by the BMKG analysis team stretching from the Malacca Strait, Riau, West Sumatra, Jambi, the Sunda Strait, Central Kalimantan, the Makassar Strait, to Papua. Meanwhile, eastern parts of Indonesia such as Mamuju, Palu, and Jayapura are also forecast to experience light rain, with rain accompanied by lightning in Bengkulu and Pontianak.
