BMKG Forecasts Light Rain for Batam on 26 May 2026
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Hang Nadim Class I Meteorological Station in Batam has issued a weather forecast for today, 26 May 2026, with predominantly cloudy skies and potential light rain from afternoon until evening. BMKG Hang Nadim Airport meteorologists stated that atmospheric conditions in the Riau Islands, particularly Batam, continue to favour rain cloud formation due to high humidity and warm temperatures from morning to midday. “A general forecast for Batam today is cloudy with potential light rain from afternoon to evening. The public is advised to remain vigilant against sudden weather changes,” said BMKG Hang Nadim meteorologists on Tuesday (26/5). BMKG recorded Batam’s temperature ranging from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius with humidity levels between 60% and 95%. Wind speeds are expected to be light, blowing from the south to south-west. Areas in Batam such as Batam City, Sekupang, Batu Aji, Sagulung, Nongsa, Bengkong, and Batu Ampar are predicted to have cloudy skies in the morning before light rain develops in the afternoon or evening. Similar weather conditions are forecast for other parts of the Riau Islands Province, including Tanjungpinang, Bintan, Karimun, Lingga, and Natuna. BMKG also warned of potential moderate rain with thunderstorms in some coastal and maritime areas. The public, especially fishermen and sea transport users, should pay attention to the weather conditions as sea waves in the Riau Islands waters may increase due to shifting wind directions. Those engaging in outdoor activities are advised to carry umbrellas or raincoats to prepare for sudden showers. Drivers are also urged to exercise caution on roads due to slippery surfaces increasing the risk of accidents. Flight operations at Hang Nadim International Airport remained normal until morning despite cloudy conditions. BMKG assured continued monitoring of weather developments to provide timely updates to the public and relevant parties.
