BMKG forecasts light rain across most of Indonesia on Tuesday

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast light rain across most of Indonesia on Tuesday, according to daily weather advisory issued in Jakarta.

Starting from Sumatra, cities including Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, and Tanjung Pinang are expected to experience light rain, while residents in Padang are advised to be cautious of rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

In Sumatra, Palembang is forecast to have hazy conditions, with light rain in Jambi and Bengkulu, and moderate rain in Bandar Lampung. Nazmi, a BMKG forecaster, warned of possible thunderstorms in Pangkal Pinang.

Moving to Java, most areas including Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya will see light rain, while Yogyakarta is expected to have thick clouds.

In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Denpasar will have light rain, Mataram will be partly cloudy, and Kupang is likely to be sunny with clouds.

In Kalimantan, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin are forecast light rain, with Samarinda experiencing hazy conditions. Nazmi cautioned about thunderstorms in Tanjung Selor.

For Sulawesi, light rain is expected across most areas including Palu, Kendari, and Manado, while Gorontalo, Makassar, and Mamuju will be partly cloudy.

In eastern Indonesia, light rain is predicted in Ternate, Sorong, Ambon, Manokwari, Nabire, and Merauke. Jayapura will experience moderate rain, and Jayawijaya may have light rain.

BMKG has also warned of heavy rain in North Kalimantan and North Maluku, which are under an alert status. Other regions including Aceh, parts of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua are under caution for moderate to heavy rain.

The agency urged the public to stay vigilant against potential extreme weather conditions with lightning, thunderstorms, and strong winds, especially during outdoor activities.
