BMKG forecasts light rain across most of Indonesia on Saturday
Jakarta - Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has stated that light rain is expected to dominate weather conditions across Indonesia on Saturday.
BMKG forecaster Diah Ayuretnani said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday that light rain is expected in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, most of Java Island, Tanjung Selor and Palangka Raya.
Additionally, such weather is expected in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, parts of Sulawesi, Ternate, Ambon and parts of Papua.
“There is also potential for thick cloud cover in Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Bengkulu, Pontianak, Samarinda and Banjarmasin,” she said.
Moreover, there is potential for haze or mist in Padang, and cloud cover is expected in Jayapura.
Diah also warned of the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Banten, West Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi and Maluku.
“For western Indonesia, residents should be alert to the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Jambi and Bandar Lampung,” she said.
