BMKG forecasts light rain across most of Indonesia on Friday

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast that most of Indonesia will experience rain on Friday. BMKG forecaster Ina Indah stated that, beginning in Sumatra, Banda Aceh is expected to see hazy conditions, while Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, and Tanjung Pinang are likely to be hit by light rain. Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung are forecast to be overcast, while Bengkulu may see light rain. Residents are advised to be alert for light rain that could affect Palembang.

Moving to Java, Bandung is expected to be cloudy, while Jakarta, Serang, and Semarang will be overcast. Yogyakarta and Surabaya are forecast to experience light rain. In Kalimantan, Pontianak, Samarinda, and Tanjung Selor are likely to see thunderstorms, while Palangkaraya and Banjarmasin may have light rain.

In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Denpasar is forecast to have light rain, Mataram may also see light rain, and Kupang is expected to be cloudy. For Sulawesi, Makassar and Kendari are forecast to have light rain. Thunderstorms are likely to hit Palu, while Mamuju will be drenched with moderate rain. Gorontalo and Manado are expected to experience light rain.

In Maluku and North Maluku, Ternate is forecast to have moderate rain, while Ambon may see light rain. In Papua, Jayapura is expected to be cloudy, while Manokwari and Nabire are likely to be hit by light rain. Sorong is forecast to have light rain, Jayawijaya may also see light rain, and Merauke is expected to be drenched with light rain.

BMKG has also reminded the public to be on alert for potential heavy to very heavy rain in Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and the Papua Highlands. Several other regions in Indonesia are on watch for potential moderate to heavy rain.
