The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has stated that 17 regions will experience light rain on Thursday.

BMKG weather forecaster Diah A said in a statement quoted in Jakarta on Thursday that light rain is possible in Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Pangkal Pinang, Semarang, Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Banjarmasin.

“Light rain is also possible in Mamuju, Palu, Kendari, Ambon, Manokwari, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Merauke,” Diah added.

Additionally, there is a chance of cloudy to heavily overcast skies in Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya.

Meanwhile, smoke or fog is possible in Jambi and Bandar Lampung, while hazy conditions are expected in Banda Aceh, Bengkulu, and Palembang.

Partly cloudy, cloudy and heavily overcast skies are forecast for Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Makassar, Gorontalo, Manado, and Sorong.

“For western Indonesia, moderate rain is possible in Medan and Palangka Raya,” she said.

She also noted that moderate rain is a possibility in Nabire for eastern Indonesia.

She reminded the public to remain vigilant as atmospheric dynamics could lead to significant weather conditions across several regions, urging heightened preparedness for potential heavy to very heavy rain in Central Papua.
