Jakarta — Indonesia’s Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) estimates that extreme heat weather in the Jakarta region is likely to persist until around Eid al-Fitr, approximately 20–22 March 2026.

Guswanto, Deputy Head of the Meteorology Division at BMKG, stated that the hot temperatures experienced by the public in recent days are likely to continue for some time yet.

“It is still likely to feel hot until 20–22 March 2026,” said Guswanto when confirmed by Kompas.com on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

This situation allows solar radiation to penetrate the atmosphere optimally and reach the Earth’s surface directly. This condition is estimated to persist during the seasonal transition period.

“BMKG has recorded maximum temperatures of up to 35.6 degrees Celsius and a UV index in the purple category, meaning extreme danger,” he said.

BMKG has also urged residents to reduce outdoor activities when solar radiation is at its highest level.

Residents are advised to avoid direct sun exposure, particularly between 10:00 and 14:00 WIB.

“Use sunscreen or sun protection with high SPF to protect your skin. Increase water intake to prevent dehydration,” Guswanto explained.
