BMKG Early Warning for 11 June 2026: North Sumatra Under Alert Status
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning regarding significant weather potential forecast to hit a number of regions in Indonesia on Thursday, 11 June 2026. A combination of atmospheric dynamics triggering massive rain cloud formation has placed several areas under Caution and Alert statuses. The public is urged to heighten preparedness, especially in four regions under Alert status for potential heavy to very heavy rainfall. These regions are North Sumatra, West Sulawesi, North Maluku, and Maluku. Based on compiled data, BMKG reported that the accumulation of rain clouds is triggered by an expanding convergence zone extending from West Sumatra to North Kalimantan. Similar conditions are also observed in the Makassar Strait, Sulawesi, Maluku, and the Cendrawasih Bay area. In addition to convergence, confluence areas are forecast to develop in the Andaman Sea, the Malacca Strait, the South China Sea, and the Pacific Ocean north of Papua. The confluence of these phenomena significantly increases the potential for extreme rain cloud growth along those paths. The public is asked to remain alert to the impacts of hydrometeorological disasters such as flooding, landslides, and strong winds. The latest weather information can be accessed via the official BMKG website or its official social media channels.
