BMKG: Early Tsunami Warning Declared Over

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has stated that the early tsunami warning resulting from the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that shook the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region on Saturday morning has ended. “The early tsunami warning caused by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake today at 04.58 WIB has been declared over,” said BMKG Director of Earthquakes and Tsunamis Wijayanto in Jakarta on Saturday. He said the BMKG will continue to update further information. Previously, the BMKG issued an early tsunami warning 1 after the initial earthquake was recorded at M7.0. At that time, northern Ngada was on alert status with an estimated tsunami arrival time of around 05.01 WIB. Until 07.02 WITA, aftershocks were still occurring. The earthquake was felt across the entire island of Flores, parts of Sumba island, Adonara and Solor.
