The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class I Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) Banda Aceh has detected 119 hotspots scattered across several regions in Aceh.

BMKG Class I SIM Banda Aceh forecaster, Dedi, stated that the hotspots were found in 17 regencies/cities. South Aceh is the region with the highest number of hotspots, recording 26 points.

This is followed by Gayo Lues with 15 points, Central Aceh with 13, Bireuen with 12, and Aceh Jaya with 10. Meanwhile, Pidie was observed with seven points, Aceh Besar and Nagan Raya with six points each, and Pidie Jaya with five.

Other areas monitoring hotspots include West Aceh and Southeast Aceh with four points each, Bener Meriah with three, and Southwest Aceh, North Aceh, and Subulussalam City with two points each. Additionally, Aceh Singkil and Aceh Tamiang each recorded one point.

“The concentration of hotspots was observed in South Aceh, specifically in the Bakongan, Kluet, and Trumon areas,” said Dedi on Tuesday (1/9).

Meanwhile, data from the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) indicates that during August 2026, there were 29 incidents of forest and land fires (Karhutla). These fires were recorded in several regions of Aceh, including Aceh Besar, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, Lhokseumawe, West Aceh, Southwest Aceh, South Aceh, Gayo Lues, and several other areas.

According to the BPBA recapitulation, the total area of land affected by fires during August 2026 reached approximately 110.8 hectares.

The Executive Head of BPBA, Bahron Bakti, stated that these conditions indicate that the threat of forest and land fires still requires collective attention, particularly in areas with dry land and forest zones vulnerable to fire.

“We urge the entire community to increase vigilance, especially regarding the potential for forest and land fires. Do not burn rubbish or clear land using fire, as under hot and dry weather conditions, fire can spread rapidly and become difficult to control,” said Bahron Bakti.
