BMKG: Alert for Heavy Rain and Strong Winds in Jakarta
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has released a national weather forecast for the period from 27 February to 5 March 2026. Weather across Indonesia will be dominated by light to moderate rainfall.
The period from late February to early March 2026 remains influenced by the Asian monsoon, which brings moist air masses from Asia into Indonesia. This condition strengthens the formation of convective clouds, particularly in the western and central regions of Indonesia.
There is also equatorial wave activity, such as Kelvin waves. These waves increase the process of rainfall cloud formation, particularly in regions south of the equator. This factor causes potential rainfall with moderate to heavy intensity to remain likely.
βIn fact, accompanied by extreme weather on a local scale,β stated BMKG on its official website on Friday, 27 February 2026.
