The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has urged homebound travellers traversing the southern Central Java (Jateng) route to prepare for hot daytime weather accompanied by potential rainfall in the afternoon through evening hours.

Teguh Wardoyo, head of the Working Team for Data Services and Information Dissemination at BMKG’s Tunggul Wulung Meteorological Station in Cilacap, stated on Monday that temperatures in the region are expected to be quite warm with relatively stable maximum temperatures.

“Maximum air temperatures are expected to remain stable around 33 degrees Celsius and are likely to persist for the coming week,” he said.

Beyond the considerable heat, direct sunlight exposure is also likely to occur, particularly during daytime hours, requiring travellers to take precautions during their journey. “Moderate intensity rainfall is still likely to occur, particularly in the afternoon through evening hours,” he added.

Regarding these conditions, Teguh advised homebound travellers to prepare adequately to ensure safe and comfortable travel. He recommended wearing light-coloured clothing to reduce heat from direct sunlight exposure and carrying sufficient drinking water during the journey.

According to him, wind direction in the region is beginning to show variation, blowing from the southeast to west at speeds ranging from 5 to 30 kilometres per hour.

“By taking note of these weather conditions, we hope that homebound travellers can prepare for various possibilities during their journey, particularly when traversing the southern Central Java route,” Teguh said.
