BlueScope looking to invest in RP

MANILA: Australia's BlueScope Steel may invest in the
Philippines' iron and steel industry, the Philippine Board of
Investment (BOI) said on Monday.

A spokeswoman for the Board of Investments confirmed media
reports that the Australian company had met with Trade
Undersecretary and Board of Investments managing head Elmer
Hernandez last week but could not give any details.

BOI director Ramon Rosales separately told AFP that the
Australians "were looking at the overall investment climate in
the Philippines.

"They were not looking at any one area in particular, although
iron and steel was mentioned," he said. -- AFP
