Blueray Cargo Owner Sentenced for Bribing Customs Officials with Rp 91.77 Billion

The Jakarta Corruption Court has convicted the owner of Blueray Cargo, John Field, for orchestrating bribes totalling Rp 91.77 billion to officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Presiding Judge Brelly Yuniar Dien stated that the illicit payments were made to ensure the swift release of the company’s imported goods from customs control.

The bribes, documented as ‘bonus costs’ for the period of July 2025 to January 2026, comprised Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollars, Rp 30 billion in cash, a Tag Heuer watch, and a Mazda CX-5 vehicle. The funds were channelled to several customs officials, including individuals named Rizal, Orlando Hamonangan, and Sisprian Subiaksono, who are being tried separately.

John Field was sentenced to two years in prison and fined Rp 300 million, with a subsidiary of 100 days’ imprisonment. His co-defendants, Operational Manager Dedy Kurniawan and Import Documentation Team Lead Andri, each received 18-month prison terms and fines of Rp 200 million, with a subsidiary of 80 days’ imprisonment. The trio were found guilty of violating Article 605, paragraph (1) letter a, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c and Article 126, paragraph (1) of the National Criminal Code.
