The owner of Blueray Cargo, John Field, faced a sentencing hearing on Monday at the Corruption Court in the Central Jakarta District Court, alongside two colleagues, in a case concerning alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for the 2025–2026 period. The other defendants are Dedy Kurniawan, the company’s Port Custom Clearance Operations Manager, and Andri, Head of the Import Documentation Team. “Today, the trial for the customs case with defendants John Field and associates will be held, with the agenda being the reading of sentencing demands,” said Central Jakarta District Court spokesperson Andi Saputra to reporters.

The three defendants are accused of giving bribes and gratuities totalling Rp63.15 billion to several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise under the Ministry of Finance. The bribes were allegedly given to ensure that imported goods belonging to the Blueray Cargo Group would be released more quickly from customs supervision. In detail, the bribes and gratuities included payments in Singapore dollars amounting to Rp61.3 billion, as well as gratuities in the form of entertainment facilities and luxury goods valued at Rp1.85 billion.

The Singapore dollar bribes were reportedly given on seven occasions to five customs officials. The gratuities included entertainment facilities worth Rp1.45 billion, a Tag Heuer watch worth Rp65 million given to an official named Orlando, and a Mazda CX-5 car worth Rp330 million given to an official named Enov. For their actions, the defendants face criminal charges under Article 605 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 606 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph (1) of the National Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article VII numbers 48-49 of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
