Blueray Cargo Bosses' Bribery Trial: Sentencing Hearing Set for 22 June
Three defendants in a case concerning the bribery of goods importation at Customs and Excise have been examined as defendants. Prosecutors will read out the sentencing demands for the defendants at a hearing on 22 June 2026.
The three defendants are defendant I John Field, head of Blueray Cargo; defendant II Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo; and defendant III Andri, head of the documents team at Blueray Cargo.
“The next hearing is on Monday, 22 June 2026, at 10.00 WIB, with the agenda being the submission or reading of the public prosecutor’s sentencing demand,” said presiding judge Brelly Yuniar Dien Wardi Haskori at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (12/6/2026).
During the defendant examination hearing, John Field admitted he knew that giving money to state officials could cause legal problems. John claimed he was forced to give money to Customs and Excise officials.
“If you knew, why were you not afraid?” asked the judge.
“Because I was forced, Your Honour,” John replied.
John stated that the initiative to give the money came from him. According to him, Andri and Deddy were merely carrying out his orders.
“Was it an order or an invitation, or what?” asked the judge.
“I ordered it, Your Honour. Because my time was busy, so I ordered Andri and Deddy to help me,” John answered.
“Who among the three of you had the will or initiative to give?” asked the judge.
“From me, Your Honour,” John replied.
John admitted his guilt and regretted his actions. He promised not to repeat his deeds.
“So, regarding what has happened, how do you feel? Starting with defendant John Field?” asked the judge.
“I admit I am guilty, Your Honour,” John answered.
“Do you regret it?” asked the judge.
“Very much,” John replied.
“What about going forward?” asked the judge.
“I will improve. It will not happen again, Your Honour,” said John.
Deddy and Andri expressed the same regret. Both promised they would not repeat their actions.
“Do you also regret it?” asked the judge.
“Yes, sir,” Deddy answered.
“And you will not repeat it either?” asked the judge.
“Yes,” Deddy replied.
“What about defendant Andri?” asked the judge.
“I regret it, Your Honour, and will not repeat it again,” Andri answered.
