The owner of Blueray Cargo, John Field, will face the verdict in his bribery case at the Jakarta Central District Court’s Corruption Court today, Friday. Alongside Field, the panel of judges will also deliver verdicts for the company’s Operational Manager of Custom Clearance, Dedy Kurniawan, and Andri, the Head of the Importation Documentation Team.

Based on the case tracking system of the Central Jakarta District Court, the hearing is scheduled for 10:00 WIB, presided over by Chief Judge Brelly Yuniar Dien. The prosecution has demanded a three-year prison sentence for John Field, coupled with a fine of Rp300 million, which if unpaid, will be substituted with 100 days of imprisonment.

Field is accused of giving bribes in the form of cash, luxury goods, and entertainment facilities to several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The bribes were allegedly given to ensure the smooth and rapid release of imported goods belonging to the Blueray Cargo Group from customs control.

The total value of the bribes is estimated at Rp63.15 billion. This sum includes Singapore dollar cash payments and gratuities such as entertainment facilities worth Rp1.45 billion and luxury items. The bribes were allegedly distributed to five customs officials identified as Rizal, Orlando Hamonangan, Fillar Marindra, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Enov Puji.

The two co-defendants, Dedy Kurniawan and Andri, face a similar fate, with prosecutors demanding a prison sentence of two years and six months each, along with a fine of Rp200 million, which if not paid, will be substituted with 80 days of imprisonment. The defendants are charged under Article 605(1)(a) or Article 606(1) of the National Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20(c) and Article 126(1) of the Criminal Code.
