The owner of Blueray Cargo Group, John Field, has admitted that his company paid money to officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) to secure priority inspection and faster clearance for its containers. The admission was made during his testimony in a corruption trial at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the public prosecutor questioned Field about the period when Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan held key positions at the central customs office. Field confirmed that at that time, 80 to 90 percent of Blueray Cargo’s containers were placed on the red channel, prompting the company to seek preferential treatment through illicit payments.

Field acknowledged that all funds prepared by the company were distributed through a mechanism arranged by internal parties and customs officials. He stated that, to his knowledge, the money reached all intended recipients, including those coded as BC 1, BC 2, and BC 3, referring to the Director General of Customs and Excise and other senior officials. This testimony reinforces the prosecution’s case regarding total bribes and gratuities within DJBC amounting to Rp78.8 billion.
