Bluebird Launches Prime Service, Targeting Customers Seeking Greater Comfort
PT Blue Bird Tbk has expanded its taxi service line-up with the launch of Bluebird Prime, a service targeting customers who desire greater comfort during their journeys without having to use the premium Silverbird service. The launch is the company’s response to the changing mobility patterns of urban residents who increasingly prioritise comfort when travelling.
President Director of PT Blue Bird Tbk Andre Djokosoetono said Bluebird Prime was born from customer feedback requesting a fleet option with a more spacious cabin for daily needs as well as special occasions. “Mobility, particularly for residents of large cities, has changed. Based on data and the feedback we have received, it is not just for daily needs for greater comfort, but sometimes there are special moments or specific travel needs that require more comfort. So, we are here to meet that need,” Andre said in Jakarta on Friday.
According to Andre, Bluebird Prime fills the service gap between regular Bluebird and Silverbird. The fare is estimated to be around 10 to 20 per cent higher than regular Bluebird, but remains below the Silverbird tariff, making it relatively affordable for the public. He added that the presence of Bluebird Prime also complements the company’s mobility ecosystem, which has been supporting public travel, including as a connector for first-mile and last-mile journeys to mass transportation.
Bluebird Prime uses a fleet of Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EVs and BYD E6s, which offer a more spacious cabin, greater legroom, and larger luggage capacity. The service is available in Jakarta with the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV and BYD E6, whilst in Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, and Bali, it operates using the BYD E6.
Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung praised the initiative, stating that the move aligns with the Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to promote a safe, comfortable, and sustainable transportation system. “Jakarta continues to encourage the realisation of a transportation system that is not only safe and comfortable but also sustainable. Bluebird’s move to expand the use of low-emission vehicles is a real contribution to supporting efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve better air quality for the public,” Pramono said.
Director of Marketing for PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) Bansar Maduma said the collaboration with Bluebird through the use of the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV is expected to provide a more comfortable travel experience whilst supporting low-emission mobility. Bluebird Prime can be ordered via the MyBluebird application by selecting the Bluebird Prime category, through the call centre, at official Bluebird taxi stands, or by hailing a vehicle directly on the street.
