Blowout sparks Menteng search

JAKARTA: The loud explosion that awoke residents of the plush residential area of Menteng in Jakarta early on Sunday was probably the result of a tire blowout, police said.

"We tried to locate the source of the explosion, but we failed to find it. Besides, nobody reported an explosion in the neighborhood," said Chief Brig. Haryono from the Menteng police post.

Haryono said that officers had also searched a number of areas outside Menteng, but had found nothing. --Antara
