Bloody Clash in Adonara, East Nusa Tenggara, Leaves Three Dead and 20 Homes Burned

A clash between residents of Narasaosina and Waiburak villages on Adonara Island, East Flores, on Saturday morning resulted in the deaths of three people and the burning of 20 houses. The Head of Public Relations for the East Flores Police, AKP Eliezer A Kalelado, confirmed that in addition to the three fatalities, five people suffered minor injuries. “Three people died, five were slightly injured, and 20 houses were burned,” Eliezer stated on Sunday. He added that data collection on casualties and property damage is still ongoing following the inter-village conflict. Joint security personnel remain on standby at several strategic points along the border between the two villages to anticipate further clashes. The East Flores Police, together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, are prioritising humanitarian and preventive measures, including assisting with victim evacuation, providing security, and establishing communication with community leaders. The East Flores Police have urged all residents to entrust the handling of the situation to the authorities and to avoid actions that could escalate tensions. “We call on all citizens to remain calm, not to be easily provoked by unverified information, and to work together to maintain security and order to achieve peace in East Flores Regency,” the police spokesperson appealed.
