Bloodied Dawn in Bekasi: Father Dead, Mother Critical, Daughter Wakes Alone
BEKASI – The dawn prayer period at Prima Lingkar Asri Residential Complex, Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, transformed into tragedy on Monday, 2 March 2026.
A 65-year-old man identified as EU was found dead, whilst his 60-year-old wife PW remained in critical condition. The incident was first discovered by their daughter, DNA, who woke near the time of sahur (pre-dawn meal).
An alarm sounded around 04:15 local time. DNA was startled as it was nearly time for dawn prayers, yet she had not been woken as she had been on previous days.
According to Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, head of investigations at Metro Bekasi City Police Station, DNA subsequently went downstairs to look for her parents. “The victim then took the initiative to go downstairs to wake her mother. There was no response. What could be heard was a sound like someone snoring,” said Andi at the scene.
Sensing something was wrong, DNA panicked and sought assistance. “The victim’s daughter was shocked and panicked, then asked residents for help but there was no one around. So the victim contacted her family,” Andi explained. “Her family then arrived and forced the glass door open. There they found both victims lying down,” he added.
EU was found on a bed covered in blood. PW lay on the bedroom floor.
EU was pronounced dead at the scene. PW, in critical condition, was immediately transported to hospital for intensive care treatment.
Initial examination findings indicated both victims sustained injuries from blunt force trauma to the back of their heads.
