Blood donors in action again

JAKARTA: As many as 500 members of the Lippo Karawaci Blood Donor Club took part on Saturday in a blood donor event jointly organized by the club, the Tangerang branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), the Siloam Gleneagles hospital, AIG Lippo insurance, Matahari supermarket, Lippo Bank and Supermal Karawaci.

The thrice-monthly event was the 21st held, with participants ranging from office workers to students and residents of the Lippo Karawaci housing estates.

Every year, the PMI in Tangerang requires at least 30,000 blood bags, which means they need at least 7,500 regular donors.

The club said in its release that it had also donated more than 9,209 blood bags to the office since the program began. It had also presented in September rewards to 80 donors, who have donated blood at least 10 times. -- JP
