Blockchain Technology Opens Funding Access for Film Industry

The entertainment industry is facing a shift in its business model as blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI) enter production, distribution, and audience engagement patterns. These developments open up new model opportunities while challenging industry players to find ways to address production capital needs, creator access, and revenue-sharing transparency.

One such approach is seen in the development of a blockchain-based entertainment ecosystem that connects film projects, digital content, AI, and digital assets. This model was introduced by SHOW Token at Coinfest 2026 at Melasti Beach, Bali, on 20–21 August 2026.

SHOW Token Chief Executive Officer Akshay Melwani said Coinfest 2026 provided a space for the company to expand relationships with the community and players in the technology and entertainment industries.

“Coinfest 2026 was an incredible opportunity for us to connect with the community, meet new colleagues, and interact with parties who share a similar vision about the future of technology and entertainment. We are very grateful to everyone who joined us, from the journey to Bali to all the activities during the festival,” Akshay Melwani said in a press release on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

At the event, SHOW Token also held a number of activities to bring the community together with the products and projects being developed. One of these was a special screening of the film Ketok Mejik at Mal Bali Galeria.

SHOW Token also brought a community from Yogyakarta to Bali on two company-sponsored buses. In addition to community activities, SHOW-Man, the SHOW Token mascot, took part in the Coinfest 2026 Mascot Battle and won.

The company is also exploring cooperation opportunities with a number of digital asset platforms in the region, including MEXC, Tokocrypto, and Cryptowave.

On the product side, the SHOW Token ecosystem includes SHOW Movies, SHOW AI & Marketplace, SHOW Kids, and SHOW Capital & Index. SHOW Movies focuses on film projects that have been produced in a tangible manner with a watch-and-earn model, while SHOW AI & Marketplace is directed at AI-based content production and digital assets.

SHOW Kids develops educational animated intellectual property, while SHOW Capital & Index focuses on capital management and ecosystem value development. All of these services use SHOW Token as a utility asset within an Ethereum ERC-20 network-based ecosystem.

The use of this technology has also been linked to a number of national film productions. SHOW Token is recorded as being involved as Executive Producer in several films, including Cerita Lila, Pemikat Jiwa, Sihir Tanah Kubur, and Ketok Mejik.

The model attempts to answer a number of problems that the entertainment industry has faced, particularly the large production capital requirements, limited access for independent creators to funding and distribution, and transparency in revenue sharing.

By combining digital assets, blockchain technology, AI, and conventional entertainment production, the model seeks to expand audience involvement from being merely consumers to becoming part of the creative economy ecosystem.

However, the development of digital asset-based business models still depends on the industry’s ability to build real technology usage, adequate governance, and clarity of benefits for creators and consumers. The intersection between technology and the entertainment industry therefore concerns not only product innovation, but also how the model can be applied sustainably within the industry’s value chain.
