Blitar Station Serves 9,171 Passengers During Extended Holiday Period
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Region 7 Madiun in East Java recorded a relatively high number of passengers at Blitar Station during the extended weekend holiday coinciding with the 2026 Idul Adha celebrations. PT KAI Operational Region 7 Madiun’s Public Relations Manager Tohari said on Monday that public enthusiasm for using rail transport in the region was remarkable during the extended weekend holiday period. ‘Blitar Station served a total of 9,171 passengers, comprising 4,687 arrivals and 4,484 departures,’ he said in Blitar. He stated that cumulative data from 26 May to 1 June 2026 showed Daop 7 Madiun served a total of 114,893 passengers. Of the total mobilisation, 57,830 passengers arrived and 57,063 departed from various stations within Daop 7 Madiun’s area. ‘The peak of passenger arrivals in Daop 7 Madiun occurred on the day before Idul Adha, Tuesday, 26 May 2026, with 13,396 passengers served,’ Tohari said. On Sunday, 31 May 2026, 10,440 passengers departed. On Monday, 1 June 2026, KAI services from Daop 7 Madiun handled 7,431 passengers. ‘Monday’s departure figures remain dynamic and may increase further until the last train departs at midnight, as ticket sales continue,’ Tohari said. The company also urged all prospective passengers to allocate time wisely and arrive at departure stations early to ensure safe and comfortable travel during the post-holiday return rush. He stressed this is crucial to anticipate potential road congestion en route to stations, as the public resumes activities tomorrow after the extended Idul Adha 1447 H and Pancasila Day holiday.
