Blitar City Police Chief Promises to Investigate Alleged Illegal Sand Mining in Rejoso

Public attention on suspected illegal sand mining activity in the Rejoso area, Candirejo Village, Ponggok District, Blitar Regency, has finally drawn a response from Blitar City Police Resort.

After the mining activity became a matter of public concern, Blitar City Police Chief AKBP Kalfaris Triwijaya Lalo, S.I.K., M.I.K., confirmed that his officers would carry out checks in the field.

“Good afternoon, sir. Regarding that information, officers will conduct checks and follow up on any activities that violate the law or are illegal,” said AKBP Kalfaris Triwijaya Lalo.

The response comes as a breath of fresh air amid intense scrutiny of the mining activity, which is suspected to remain in operation despite the mining business permit (IUP) reportedly having been revoked.

To date, activity at the mining site has reportedly continued. The situation has raised public questions about the effectiveness of oversight and law enforcement over mining activities alleged to no longer have legal standing.

The public now awaits whether the checks will lead to legal action should violations be found, or instead provide an answer to the controversy that has long surrounded the suspected illegal sand mining in the Rejoso area.
