Blind Patient Claims Denied Hospital Admission, Royal Prima Hospital in Medan Denies Allegations
Maya recounted that she arrived at RS Royal Prima on Jalan Ayahanda with her child on Thursday (7/5/2026) complaining of heartburn and severe dehydration. Her condition left her unable to walk. Maya claimed she had a referral from the Polonia Health Centre in Medan for inpatient treatment due to her health condition. “At that time in the emergency room, we waited 30 minutes and received no healthcare services from the medical staff whatsoever,” she said on Wednesday (13/5). After waiting a long time without service, she then admonished the medical staff present. Shortly after the reprimand, she was examined. “Only after being reprimanded did we receive medical treatment. Not long afterwards, a staff member claiming to be the on-duty doctor said the patient was not critical and stable, so she was asked to undergo outpatient treatment only,” she explained. Maya stated that the family repeatedly pleaded with RS Royal Prima to admit the patient due to her severe dehydration. “We made this request several times. However, the medical staff at the emergency unit of RS Royal Prima Medan firmly stated it was not possible,” she said. The public relations officer of RS Royal Prima, Devi Marlin, denied that the hospital refused the patient. According to her, all steps taken followed procedure. “RS Royal Prima does not refuse patients. Everything was done according to procedure,” Devi said when contacted for confirmation.
