Blast victimss leave Australia for Japan
Two Japanese men injured in the bombings on the Indonesian island
of Bali and evacuated to Australia for medical treatment left the
northern city of Darwin on Friday to make their journey home.
As they left, Yusuke Matsuda, whose wife died in the Oct. 1
blasts, and his brother Takehiko thanked medical staff at the
Royal Darwin Hospital where they were treated for injuries.
Yusuke, who still has a ball bearing lodged near his heart
which is too risky to remove, said he was looking forward to
seeing his daughter again.
"She is waiting for me to see and I am looking forward to
seeing her," he told ABC television through an interpreter.
Takehiko, who was also injured in the Jimbaran Bay bombings,
said he felt for his niece, who sustained only minor injuries in
the blast which killed her mother.
"The bad memories will fade away slowly. That's all I hope for
her," he said.
The Royal Darwin Hospital treated 23 people injured in the
blasts which hit crowded tourist areas on the resort island
almost three years to the day after the Bali nightclub bombings
claimed 202 lives.
