Blast at home of beheaded man

ZAMBOANGA, Philippines (AFP): A hand grenade exploded at the home of a man whose son had been beheaded by extremists, and the fundamentalist Abu Sayyaf group is also suspected in the grenade attack, police said here yesterday.

No one was injured in the blast that occurred late Sunday at the home of Regalado Salvacion in nearby Lantawan town.

Salvacion's son and two other Christian plantation workers were beheaded by the Abu Sayyaf last month and the son's wife, Ligaya, was kidnapped by the guerrillas, police said.

It could not immediately be determined if the blast was linked to the kidnapping of Salvacion's daughter-in-law.
