Landslides kill four in Tasikmalaya: Three separate landslides
hit villages in three districts in Tasikmalaya, West Java,
killing four and injuring three. The four killed were Nasihah,
25, one-month-old baby Dedi, Apdul, 48 and Mihai, 30. They were
sleeping when a landslide swept through the village of
Kertaraharja, Taraju district early on Monday morning. Another
landslide hit the village of Bojongkapol, Bojonggambir district,
forcing 117 people to be evacuated to a nearby village. A
landslide also demolished 17 houses in the village of Pametingan,
Cipatujah district. "Landslides are commonplace here,
particularly during heavy rains like this morning," said
Cipatujah district head Iin Anibudin. -- JP
