Blambangan Express Train Schedule and Fares Jakarta-Banyuwangi
The Blambangan Express is one of Indonesia’s longest train routes, covering a distance of 1,031 kilometres between Jakarta and Banyuwangi. The Blambangan Express operates between Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta and Ketapang Station in Banyuwangi, allowing passengers to enjoy Java’s scenic landscapes through the windows during the journey. ‘Passengers can witness the changing cityscapes from urban areas to rice paddies, coastal regions, and mountainous terrain in eastern Java,’ said Anne Purba, KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, in a statement on Monday, 25 June 2026. As the train traverses the northern coast (Pantura) in the afternoon, passengers can enjoy sunlight reflecting off rice fields and shrimp ponds. At night, the city lights along northern Java create a serene journey, while mornings in East Java bring mountainous views, plantations, and the distinctive air of eastern Java. This visual experience is a key reason why long-distance train travel remains popular. Departing from Pasar Senen Station, the Blambangan Express leaves at 12:10 WIB and arrives at Ketapang Station at 04:40 WIB the following day. From Ketapang Station, it departs at 15:45 WIB and arrives at Pasar Senen Station at 08:16 WIB. Beyond providing a memorable journey, the Blambangan Express connects numerous cities and tourist destinations. The train stops at key stations including Cirebon, Tegal, Pekalongan, Semarang Tawang, Cepu, Bojonegoro, Surabaya Pasarturi, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Jember, and Banyuwangi Kota. Anne added that each region along the route has its own unique tourist attractions. Semarang is known for its Old Town and culinary offerings, Probolinggo serves as a gateway to Mount Bromo, while Banyuwangi boasts attractions such as Ijen Crater, Red Island Beach, Baluran National Park, and Alas Purwo. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia reached over 13 million in 2025, with a positive trend continuing into early 2026. This growth has boosted demand for comfortable, interregional public transport options for tourism. Ticket prices for the Blambangan Express start at Rp 580,000 for economy class and Rp 820,000 for executive class.
