BKSDA Lampung Prohibits Activities in Mount Anak Krakatau Conservation Zone
The Lampung Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has reaffirmed the prohibition of activities within the Mount Anak Krakatau conservation zone as an effort to maintain the area’s sustainability and ensure public safety.
Speaking in South Lampung on Sunday, BKSDA Lampung officer Sujadi stated that the Mount Anak Krakatau area is part of a conservation zone subject to specific regulations regarding human activity. “The public and tourists must adhere to the established zone boundaries and refrain from conducting activities in prohibited areas,” he said.
According to Sujadi, the ban is not only related to the protection of the conservation area but also serves as a preventative measure to avoid safety risks resulting from the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Em Krakatau. “We urge fishermen and tourists to comply with the established zone limits and avoid activities in forbidden areas,” he added.
He explained that compliance with zone boundaries is crucial given that the Mount Anak Krakatau area possesses potential hazards, meaning the public is not permitted to approach areas designated as prohibited zones.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Marine Police Unit of the South Lampung Police, Iptu Panpan Hermayadi, emphasised that joint patrols will continue in the waters surrounding Mount Anak Krakatau to prevent the public and tourists from entering restricted zones. “We urge the community, fishermen, and tourists not to approach Mount Anak Krakatau and to obey the prohibited radius. Do not take risks just to gain an experience or a close-up view,” he said.
These patrols are part of an ongoing effort to monitor community activities around the Mount Anak Krakatau conservation area, specifically to ensure that no residents or tourists violate safety zone boundaries. He also reminded fishermen and tourists to follow information and directives from the relevant authorities regarding the condition of Mount Anak Krakatau before conducting any activities in the vicinity.
