BKPRMI: Presidential Regulation 111/2025 a Strategic Effort to Counter LGBTQ Cultural Threat

The inclusion of the spread of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) culture alongside various other non-military threats in the policy document demonstrates the importance of national vigilance. The Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Agency (BKPRMI) has stated that Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 111 of 2025 on the General Policy for State Defence 2025–2029 is a strategic step to ensure national defence, including in facing the threat of LGBTQ culture. Chairman of the Central Executive Board of BKPRMI, Nanang Mubaroki, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the existence of the Presidential Regulation is a strategic government move to strengthen national resilience while protecting society, particularly the younger generation, from various challenges evolving alongside global changes, advances in information technology, and social and cultural shifts. “The inclusion of the spread of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) culture together with other non-military threats in the policy document shows the importance of national vigilance against challenges deemed capable of affecting the nation’s ideology, morality, social and cultural fabric, and the quality of Indonesia’s human resources,” Nanang said. The non-military threats mentioned in the policy include the spread of LGBTQ culture, radicalism, cyber attacks, online gambling, human trafficking, narcotics abuse, disinformation, and various other forms of threats that can affect social stability, ideology, morality, and national security. The government categorises threats to national defence into three main groups: military threats, non-military threats, and hybrid threats. “Defending the nation is not only realised through military aspects, but also through moral development, strengthening national insight, digital literacy, religious moderation, and economic empowerment of the people,” Nanang said. He also called on all elements of the nation to strengthen character building, noble morals, family resilience, digital literacy, religious education, and supervision against negative influences that could threaten the future of Indonesia’s young generation. BKPRMI is committed to continuously strengthening its dakwah movement, cadre formation, character education, youth and mosque youth development, strengthening of harmonious families, digital literacy, and economic empowerment of the people, as part of its real contribution to building national resilience based on Islamic, national, and humanitarian values.
