The government will build more intensive communication with investors from China. This step follows up on a letter previously sent by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the realities of investing in Indonesia.

Deputy Minister of Investment/Deputy Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, views the document not as a one-sided complaint. According to him, the written notes from the entrepreneurs reflect the normal dynamics of business.

“That letter is a letter of concern from Chinese investors. That’s perfectly normal,” said Todotua when met at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM building, Wednesday (13/5/2026).

He added that input from external parties actually shows investors’ care for improving the system in the country. The input is considered beneficial for the government to continue refining existing investment procedures.

“They see the conditions with notes that become challenges in this country and provide input to the government. We consider that something positive,” he stated.

Todotua did not deny that the national investment climate still has several challenges that must be resolved. Nevertheless, he emphasised that his agency continues to work hard to maintain the attractiveness of the domestic market.

“Our primary task is to create a conducive and good investment climate. This country has potential natural resources, the largest market demand with a large population, and a strategic territory,” he explained.
