The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) continues to strengthen the quality of the investment climate through simplifying licensing services, enhancing legal certainty, and facilitating the resolution of various investment obstacles, or debottlenecking. These efforts are undertaken to ensure that investment projects can be realised promptly and deliver economic benefits to the public.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday, emphasised the important role of collaboration between the central government, regional governments, ministries and agencies, as well as stakeholders in overseeing investment implementation. According to Rosan, global investment is increasingly moving towards strategic sectors that will shape the future economy, such as digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and critical minerals.

“The next stage of downstreaming is not only concerned with minerals and their processing, but extends to digital infrastructure, technology, innovation and industries that will determine future global growth,” he said.

In addition to strengthening investment facilitation, BKPM is also encouraging greater business certainty through increasingly predictable business processes. This is considered important because investment decisions today take into account not only the domestic market and production costs, but also stability, business certainty, partnerships, infrastructure reliability, and long-term vision.

Speaking as a keynote speaker at the Jakarta Investment Festival (JIF) Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Friday (28/8), he also noted that Jakarta holds a strategic position as one of the main growth and investment centres contributing significantly to the Indonesian economy. “Jakarta has a very important role in this journey,” said Minister Rosan.

Throughout the first half of 2026, investment realisation in Jakarta reached Rp173.6 trillion, or 17.2 per cent of total national investment realisation. Jakarta also contributed 16.3 per cent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2026. This investment realisation was supported by several key sectors, including transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications with an investment value of Rp54.4 trillion, other services at Rp43.6 trillion, trade and repairs at Rp28.4 trillion, housing and offices at Rp14 trillion, and construction at Rp12.9 trillion.

“We know that Jakarta contributes very significantly to total investment realisation in Indonesia, and if we look at it, Jakarta almost always ranks in the top five, and this semester it is even ranked first,” he said.

“The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM always collaborates with the Jakarta Government to ensure that projects in Jakarta are facilitated and their implementation can proceed properly and correctly, so as to provide benefits not only to Jakarta but to the Indonesian economy,” said Rosan.
