BKPM Pursues High-Quality Investment for Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani is ensuring that investment entering the country is of high quality, delivering tangible impacts on both the national and regional economy.
“Our investment strategy is not solely about chasing large nominal figures, but also targeting quality investment, while simultaneously focusing on realisation or implementation acceleration, and its contribution to strengthening the economy at both the regional and national levels,” Rosan stated during a meeting with Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday.
He further explained that to support the 8 percent economic growth target set by President Prabowo Subianto, the government has established an investment target of Rp13,032.8 trillion for the 2025-2029 period. This value represents a 143 percent increase compared to the investment realisation over the past 10 years.
According to Rosan, despite the significant increase in the investment target, the government continues to place investment quality as a priority to create added value, accelerate implementation, and strengthen the national economic structure.
Amidst global geopolitical and economic dynamics, BKPM recorded investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 reaching Rp498.8 trillion. This achievement grew by 7.2 percent year-on-year and has fulfilled approximately 24.4 percent of the 2026 investment target.
This investment realisation also successfully absorbed around 700,000 direct workers, an increase of 18.9 percent compared to the same period the previous year.
In terms of investment sources, Domestic Direct Investment (PMDN) contributed approximately 49.9 percent, or Rp248.8 trillion, growing by about 6 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) accounted for 50.1 percent, or around Rp250 trillion.
The main sectors contributing to investment included the base metal industry, services, mining, housing and industrial estates, as well as transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications.
Rosan also highlighted the increasing contribution of natural resource-based investment, which reached 30 percent of total investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026, valued at Rp147.5 trillion.
Looking ahead, he said his ministry will continue to encourage investment in strategic commodities that produce high value-added products, such as semiconductors, bioethanol, coconut derivative products, and seaweed-based downstream industries.
