BKPM Budget Must Be Strictly Supervised to Ensure 8 Percent Growth: House Member
A member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, H. Jalal Abdul Nasir, has stated that the budget for the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming (Investment Coordinating Board – BKPM) for 2027 must be supported and strictly supervised. This step is necessary to ensure that 8 percent economic growth and equitable welfare can be achieved.
“This must be done, because this investment and downstreaming budget is closely linked to the 8 percent economic growth target,” said H. Jalal during a working meeting with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming at the DPR Building in Jakarta on Monday, 15 June 2026.
He urged all parties, particularly the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, to work diligently and correctly in 2026 and 2027 to ensure that President Prabowo Subianto’s directives from yesterday’s plenary session can be realised.
“During the last plenary session, the President mentioned that when the VOC took Indonesia’s resources, the Netherlands’ GDP became the highest in the world in that century. If we can push for the downstreaming of agricultural, plantation, and fishery products, the multiplier effect for public welfare will be enormous,” he stated.
Furthermore, downstreaming in the mineral sector must also be promoted while still considering sustainable management to ensure no environmental damage occurs.
“If this can be done, then growth will be achieved and prosperity will be evenly distributed,” he added.
He also highlighted the investment by PT Djarum in Brebes in dairy cattle farming.
“I encourage this investment to be opened as widely as possible for domestic investment (PMDN) and local investors, to ensure that 8 percent growth can be achieved,” concluded H. Jalal.
