BKN Recommendation Letter Issued, Tangsel Regional Secretary Position Extended
South Tangerang City Government (Pemkot Tangsel) has confirmed that the administrative process related to the evaluation of the tenure of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) has been completed. Through the recommendation and appointment letter issued by the State Civil Apparatus Agency (Badan Kepegawaian Negara, BKN), the tenure of the Tangsel Regional Secretary is officially extended, removing the need for a new selection process.
Head of the South Tangerang City Communications and Information Technology Office (Kepala Dinas Komunikasi dan Informatika, Kominfo) of South Tangerang City, TB Asep Nurdin, expressed appreciation to BKN RI for the assistance and technical guidance provided during the evaluation process. This step is seen as providing strong legal certainty for the stability of the Tangsel bureaucracy.
‘We, on behalf of the South Tangerang City Government, express our deepest thanks to BKN for its professionalism and objectivity in guiding this evaluation process. BKN’s presence ensures that all stages run rigorously, transparently, and fully in accordance with the regulatory framework governing civil service,’ said Asep, on Friday (22 May 2026).
According to Asep, the official decision from BKN provides final legitimacy to the legal status of the Sekda post. This also serves as evidence of the municipality’s commitment to upholding the principle of good governance.
Responding to the dynamics of discussion and differing views that had developed in the community regarding the region’s top civil servant post, Asep regards this as a normal form of social oversight within a democratic climate.
Nevertheless, he reminded that structural positions within government are subject to periodic evaluations strictly regulated by law, not by political will or public opinion pressure.
‘We greatly respect that as social oversight. However, when the law has spoken and the official decision from the central civil service supervisory body has been made, it is time to align perceptions for the continuity of development,’ he said.
With the certainty of administrative civil service law now established, the Mayor and all ranks of the Tangsel Regional Apparatus Work Units (OPD) say they will immediately accelerate their work programmes that had been inhibited.
‘The energy we expend on counterproductive disputes is too high. The appointment letter is already in hand, which means our duty is to return to work, serve, and ensure public rights are fulfilled without discrimination,’ he asserted.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikdasmen) has responded to proposals to appoint all teachers as civil servants. The government remains focused on mapping teacher needs and targets for filling formasi in 2026.
Kemendikdasmen is preparing a special selection for 237,196 honorary teachers listed in the Dapodik to secure civil servant status and career progression for 2026.
The government emphasises that there will be no mass layoffs for non-ASN teachers in 2027. Teachers will still have the opportunity to participate in fair and transparent selections.
