BKN Praises South Sulawesi Governor for Making ASN Talent Management a National Reference
Head of the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, has praised South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman for accelerating the implementation of talent management.
Zudan assessed that South Sulawesi has become a model or national reference, so that other regional governments are encouraged to learn from the South Sulawesi Provincial Government.
“I want the implementation of talent management to be learned from South Sulawesi. Provinces that have not implemented it, please come to South Sulawesi,” said Zudan on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
Zudan made the remarks while opening the Stage II Talent Management Exposition for Regional Government Agencies in the South Sulawesi Province Region in 2026, held at the Asta Cita Hall of the South Sulawesi Governor’s Official Residence on Jalan Sungai Tangka, Makassar City. The exposition was attended by Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, Head of BKN Regional Office IV Makassar Nanang Subandi, and regional heads from across South Sulawesi.
The former Acting Governor of South Sulawesi then revealed the factors that have enabled South Sulawesi to move quickly in implementing talent management. One of them is the strong commitment of regional leadership.
According to him, South Sulawesi is the only region outside Java that has fully implemented talent management in regional government. This achievement is not merely quantitative but represents genuine implementation in the regions.
“If anyone asks why South Sulawesi is fast in talent management, it is because the Governor is Mr Andi Sudirman Sulaiman,” Zudan stated.
Meanwhile, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said that the implementation of talent management for echelon officials and civil servants in South Sulawesi must not be viewed merely as fulfilling administrative requirements. The system, he stressed, is an effort to improve the capacity of civil servants.
“We want to make it a foundation for building a bureaucracy that is professional, competent, has integrity, is results-oriented, and is able to provide the best service to the public,” said Andi Sudirman.
He said South Sulawesi has become one of the progressive regions in implementing talent management. In fact, South Sulawesi is the only region outside Java that has fully implemented talent management within regional government.
According to him, this achievement is not only quantitative in nature. It demonstrates genuine implementation in the management of civil service human resources in the regions.
“Today we are already feeling the benefits of full talent management for echelon officials and civil servants, to ensure that people placed in certain positions truly match their competence, capacity and potential,” he explained.
To date, 13 district and city government agencies in South Sulawesi have obtained approval for the implementation of talent management. Meanwhile, in this Stage II Exposition, 11 districts and cities are again participating in the assessment and exposition process for talent management implementation.
